Ambulance Crashes Into Cars Personally Injuring Eight

Two Children, two Chicago firefighters and four others were personally injured after a car collided with an ambulance on the Northwest Side of Chicago. Several ambulances were called to the scene in response to the two-vehicle crash. A spokesperson stated that a woman driving an Acura northbound on Menard collided with an eastbound Chicago Fire Department ambulance in the intersection, which was en route to the hospital with two patients inside. The woman’s car flipped upside down and another car rammed into it. A third vehicle rear-ended the second car and fled to the scene. Witnesses rushed to help the woman in the Acura and her two young children, who were badly bleeding, out of the car. Neither the firefighters nor the ambulance patients suffered life-threatening personal injuries, mostly bumps and bruises. Two Personally Injured When Car Slams into Starbucks

Two automobiles crashed near an Old Town neighborhood in Chicago intersection in the early morning sending one of the vehicles into a Starbucks coffee shop. Emergency crews responded to the accident at North and Wells Street. Two cars collided, sending one of the cars into the Starbucks at the intersection. This particular Starbucks is open 24 hours, and patrons were inside at the time of the crash. However, no one in the coffee shop was injured but a glass window did shatter. The drivers of both vehicles were taken to the hospital with personal injuries and are listed in “stable” condition. The cause of the car accident is not known. Man Trapped in Car For An Entire Day

Police say a 22-year-old man may have been trapped in his wrecked car for nearly 24 hours after it ran off the road. The man was hospitalized in critical condition with personal injuries. The police discovered the wreck about 400 feet from the highway. They believe he was traveling at a high rate of speed when his car ran off the road, down a steep embankment and into a wooded area. Officials say that the man was confused and disoriented when he was found and didn’t remember the automobile accident. Police say his personal injuries included a broken leg and collapsed lung. 5 People Die in Horrific Automobile Crash

A community was grieving the death of five people, including four high school cheerleaders, who died in a fiery automobile crash hours after they had been at a football game. A sport utility vehicle carrying the cheerleaders collided with an oncoming car on a wet, foggy highway. A passenger in the other car was killed and three more were personally injured including a woman who lost her unborn child. Investigators believe that the automobile crash was caused in part by the slick and foggy conditions and a preliminary report indicated none of the girls were wearing a seatbelt. They believe the SUV hydroplaned on a curve on the two-lane highway, flipped on its side and crossed the center lane, slamming into the oncoming car. The SUV then erupted into flames. Chicago Man Fatally Struck By Automobile

An automobile fatally struck a man on the West Side of Chicago. The vehicle struck the 28 year old man at the intersection of West Madison Street and Francisco Avenue. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy determined that the man died of multiple personal injuries from a vehicle striking a pedestrian. Although the death was ruled an accident, the police Major Investigation Unit is investigating the automobile accident. They are refusing to comment about the automobile accident and the death of the man. At this time, no wrongful death or automobile accident lawsuits have been filed. Hit and Run Kills Woman

Police are investigating an individual that is connected to a fatal hit-and-run crash that killed a woman on the West Side of Chicago. The 43-year-old woman was crossing Chicago Avenue when an eastbound blue and white conversion van struck her causing her immediate death. The woman was pronounced dead at Mount Sinai Hospital according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office. The van continued east on Chicago after the automobile accident. Teen Killed in Illinois Car Crash

A 16-year-old boy from Illinois died from personal injuries he suffered after his car left the roadway and crashed into a tree last week. The Cook County medical examiner has confirmed that the boy was killed and is performing an autopsy. The boy was driving north on Coyne Station Road when the automobile accident occurred. The police said a witness reported that the car left the roadway after attempting to overtake another vehicle at a high rate of speed within a no-passing zone. State Senator Dies After Truck Collides With Car

A longtime Pennsylvania state senator has died after his Cadillac collided head-on with a truck. The Senator died from personal injuries he suffered after the truck accident while his wife was taken to the hospital with personal injuries. The two were headed to an official event when the pickup truck and his car collided head on. The state senator was traveling north when his Cadillac collided with a pickup truck traveling the other way. Personal injury lawsuit filed after I-270 car accident

An Illinois car accident from December 2006 is the subject of an Illinois personal injury lawsuit. The Illinois plaintiff claims that he was driving on Interstate 270 when the defendant struck his vehicle from behind. The personal injury lawsuit alleges that the defendant was negligently operating his car by failing to keep a proper lookout, failing to maintain a proper distance, failing to maintain a proper speed, and failing to stop his vehicle.

The Illinois car accident caused the plaintiff to injure his head, neck, shoulder, and back. He is seeking a judgment of at least $25,000.

Woman struck and killed after exiting her car on the highway

A Midwest woman was struck and killed on I-75 earlier this week after getting out of her car in which she had been arguing with her boyfriend. She left the car and tried to flag down a ride. Then, in a horrible car accident, she ran into southbound traffic. She was struck by a woman driving. The driver is not likely to face charges because she has done nothing wrong.

Man Killed in Motorcycle Crash

An off-duty Chicago police officer was killed in a motorcycle crash in a Chicago south suburb. It seems as if she had lost control of the motorcycle and hit a street sign. The 40 year old victim was taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead. The motorcycle accident happened at about 3 p.m. The police chief did not know how the motorcycle accident occurred or how fast the bike was traveling but it is believed that she was not wearing a helmet at the time. Man Killed In Automobile Crash

A man was killed when the Corvette he was riding in hit a tree in the north Chicago suburb of Glenview. The man was identified as a 21-year-old from the Chicago suburb of Wheeling. The 21-year old driver of the car survived the crash. The 2006 Chevrolet Corvette slammed into a tree along the road in the early morning. When emergency officials go there, they found the driver conscious and his passenger fatally injured. The driver was going westbound on Lake Avenue when he lost control of the vehicle, left the roadway and hit the tree. The driver was taken to the hospital with personal injuries. Woman Dies In Automobile Accident

A 27-year-old woman was killed and five people, including four children, sustained personal injuries after an automobile accident drove off the Bishop Ford Freeway on Chicago’s Far South Side. Illinois State Police stated that the crash involved a single vehicle. The occupants involved in the automobile accident were a family, including four children under the age of 10. The car drove off the Bishop Ford Freeway and rolled over several times, coming to rest near the intersection of 120th Street and South Doty Avenue. The driver was a 27-year-old woman who was pronounced dead on the scene. Five other people were taken to area hospitals with non-life-threatening personal injuries. Five Injured in Crash on Near West Side of Chicago

Five women were hurt when the automobile they were riding in was T-boned by another car, causing an automobile accident, on the Near West Side of Chicago. An EMS plan was initiated for a traffic accident that occurred at the intersection of West Grand and North Western Avenues who said five ambulances were sent to the scene. The automobile accident occurred when a Pontiac Grand Am GT traveling north on Western Avenue T-boned the driver’s side of a car containing the five people who sustained personal injuries. The five from the car that was t-boned in the automobile accident all suffered non-life threatening personal injuries and were taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. The driver of the car did not go to the hospital but complained that he had personal injuries as well. Investigators are still determining whether there was fault in the automobile accident. Chicago Pays $300,000 in Woman’s Traffic Death

The family of a 69-year-old woman run over and killed in a dangerous mid-block crosswalk by a Chicago firefighter driving too fast for the raining conditions received a $700,000 settlement by a City Council committee. The woman was crossing South Chicago Avenue when she was hit by a two-day-old Ford Expedition carrying the Fire Department’s 6th District deputy chief and his driver. The accident occurred two years ago on the 9200 block of South Chicago. The woman was dressed in dark clothing when she stepped off the center median and into the path of the SUV, which was not on an emergency call and did not have its emergency lights or sirens activated. The crosswalk has blinking lights, but they were not working at the time of the accident. City traffic engineers examined the crosswalk after the accident for possible safety improvements. Chicago Fire Department officials had insisted that the SUV was driving at or below the posted speed limit and the senior stepped right into the path of the oncoming vehicle. We’ve all seen them and been frightened on them on the highways. Car fires. A recent article highlighted how car fires start. Shockingly, the majority of vehicle fires are unrelated to car accidents. Man Struck Fixing Flat Tire on Kennedy Feeder Ramp

Police are searching for the driver of a car that struck and severely personally injured a man as he fixed a flat tire on a Kennedy Expressway feeder ramp, in Chicago, Illinois. The incident happened early in the morning on the Ontario Street feeder ramp on the Kennedy Expressway. The man was struck by a car in the far right shoulder as he knelt next to his car to fix a flat tire who said that the driver of the car which struck the man did not stop nor did he call 911. No saw the offending vehicle or the traffic accident. Two Illinois State Police troopers were first to respond to the scene, placing tourniquets on the man’s legs and providing life-saving medical attention to the man who was said to be bleeding profusely. The man was taken to the hospital with serious personal injuries. Police are investigating the automobile accident to find the perpetrator. At this time, no lawsuits have been filed. Man Dies When Car Strikes Pole

A South Side of Chicago Man was killed in an automobile accident when the car he was struck a pole near Jackson Park. The police were notified of a car striking a pole at East 63rd Street and East Hayes Drive in Chiago, Illinois. Hayes Drive is an access road to Lake Shore Drive at 63rd Street and one person died in the automobile accident. It is not known if the automobile accident occurred on or off of Lake Shore Drive. The automobile accident resulted in the death of a man, but at this time there is no additional information on the accident or the victim. At this time, no wrongful death lawsuits have been filed. Jury awards victims of truck accident $1.5 Million

Two men, injured as a result of a truck accident, have received $1.5 million from a jury. The truck accident occurred about two years ago. As a result of the truck accident, one of the men suffered a fractured vertebra and the other sustained serious damage to his right knee, requiring reconstructive surgeries, and mild traumatic brain damage.

Chicago May Enact a Texting While Driving Ban

A Chicago City Council committee today unanimously passed a proposed ban on sending text messages while driving in Chicago. The new restriction which would also cover using wireless devices to browse the Internet builds on the 2005 cell phone rule. Violators could face a $75 fine, with the penalty rising to as much as $200 if the violations “occurred at the time of a traffic accident.” Illinois Secretary of State is also pushing for a statewide ban on texting while driving. Eight states, including California, have already done so. This ban is aimed to reduce the amount of automobile accidents that occur because of cell phones.
