Two in Custody, One Still at Large in North Side Chicago Car Accident

You are a safe driver, you obey traffic signals, speed limits, and you check your blinds spots before changing lanes. Nothing bad could ever happen to you right?

Wrong.

Unfortunately, with so many cars on the roads today, the people driving them, and their driving styles are as diverse as Chicago itself. Some people are calm and cautious, while others are hot headed and reckless. While choosing to drive safely may significantly improve your chances of getting from point A to point B without a problem, the presence of reckless and negligent drivers on the road means that there is a risk.

Our car accident lawyers read a report that yesterday three suspects in a North side shooting caused two traffic accidents before finally flipping their own Jeep. Following the incident, a man and a woman were arrested, while the third is still on the loose.

The chase, which lasted more than an hour, began in the early morning around 8 a.m. in the 4300 block of West Altgeld Street, continuing until the suspect’s vehicle flipped at approximately 9:20 a.m. near the intersection of School and Paulina Avenue. According to Police, Grand Central District officers were given a description of the Jeep over their police radio briefly before seeing the vehicle speeding away from the scene. They pursued, only to call of their chase because of the excessive speed of the Jeep, passing the chase off to Illinois State Police.

The Jeep struck vehicles in traffic in both the 1900 block of West Diversey Avenue and the 100 block of West School Street before hitting a curb, causing it to flip and come to a rest. The two suspects in custody were arrested and taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center for treatment, but their injuries were not believed to be life threatening. The third suspect is described as a Hispanic man between the ages of 20 and 30, and was last seen wearing a blue baseball hat, black hooded sweatshirt, and jeans. (Chicago Tribune)

As lawyers who have a great deal of experience in reckless and negligent driving accidents, we know better than anyone that bad accidents can happen to good people. It only takes one person acting irresponsibly to cause an accident, and you can never be sure when or where they will happen. However, if you ever do find yourself as the victim of a reckless driver, it is important to know who to turn to.

Our attorneys were able to reach a $2.07 million verdict for a 23-year-old woman, whose accident left her with multiple leg fractures. The money allowed her to pay medical expenses and continue to live a normal life on her road to a slow recovery. We have fought and won defending the rights of our clients for 20 years, and if you or a loved one has been a victim of a negligent or reckless driver, we will do the same for you.
