Millions of Americans are injured or killed every year in car accidents. These casualties have reached such great numbers that car crashes are believed to become the main cause of preventable death in the United States over the next decade. Not surprisingly, of all personal injury claims handled by lawyers in the United States, car accidents are the most common cause. Yesterday, a two-car traffic accident on Chicago’s South side left one dead and another in serious condition. (National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration)
According to early reports from a police News Affairs Officer, the two vehicles collided around 10:30 a.m. along the 3300 block of East 100th Street near a Calumet River bridge. One person, a South side man, was declared dead at the scene, while another woman was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in serious condition. Further details on the crash have not been released at the time of this articles publication. (Chicago Tribune)
As the single greatest cause of personal injury, claims arising from a Chicago car accident can include:
• Serious injuries
• Uninsured drivers
• Loss of income
• Manufacturing defects in automobiles and public transportation • Medical expenses incurred by a car accident
Aiding clients and families plagued by the issues above is something that our attorneys have gained a great deal of experience in over the years. Our lawyers can help Illinois residents get the compensation they deserve to cover the costs that come with a severe accident. Many of the people we work with have experienced fractured bones, and in worse cases spinal cord, brain, and nerve damage. These injuries can leave them bed ridden, or relegated to a hospital room for months at a time, and to make matters worse, two-thirds of the average victims injuries are permanent. This can place a huge amount of stress on a household, and even more on an individual, being left without a means of making money or returning to work, and continuing to rack up expensive medical bills.
Our lawyers have obtained numerous successful car accident lawsuits for clients injured in Illinois car accidents, from a $2.07 million verdict for a woman who suffered multiple leg fractures in an auto accident, to $6.5 million settlement for the family of a 32-year-old woman who died in a trucking accident. These settlements compensated our clients for the tragic harms cause and held the reckless and negligent individuals responsible accountable for their actions.
While many car accidents are preventable, you can never fully guarantee your safety on the roads. When serious accidents do happen it is important to know what your legal options are to ensure that you and your family can maintain a normal way of life.
