Four people died in the early morning in a head-on collision in an Illinois County when a Pontiac Grand Am crossed the center line and slammed into a Pontiac Grand Prix. The driver, who was 18, of the Grand Am was airlifted to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. Two passengers in his car, both 19, were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Grand Prix, also 19, was also pronounced dead at the scene. A preliminary investigation found that the Grand Am was driving south on Burlington Road when he crossed the center line and hit the Grand Prix who was driving northbound. Preliminary information shows drugs and alcohol appear to be factors in the automobile crash. While the investigation of the crash continues, no lawsuits have been filed.
