Amtrak Train Derails

An Amtrak train derailed while departing Chicago’s Union Station. The train accident involved an Amtrak Southwest Chief train had 116 passengers aboard. At least one person was personally injured. The train consisted of eight cars and two locomotives, and it was the two cars in the middle of the train that derailed. The cause of the train accident is unclear. “Replacement” coaches were attached to the front portion of the train after the train accident.
